Amy Schumer denied rumors that she was making fun of Tom Holland‘s mental health video. Over the weekend, Tom Holland shared a video to Instagram explaining that he was taking a break from social media for his mental health.

Holland also promoted one of his charities, Stem 4, which focuses on teenage mental health support. “I have taken a break from social media for my mental health,” Tom said in the video. “Because I find Instagram and Twitter to be overstimulating, to be overwhelming.” “I get caught up and I spiral when I read things about me online. And ultimately, it’s very detrimental to my mental state, so I decided to take a step back and delete the app.”
Tom posted a video on social media, and the next day Amy Schumer shared a similar message on Instagram. She joked about what she is doing to maintain her mental health.

“I have decided, for my own mental health, to do more social media,” Amy said. “I find that looking at my phone for eight and a half hours a day is helping me, and it’s helping this pimple patch and this breakout.”
“And being in my 40s, it’s actually good for me to watch all of Love Island and all of The Bachelors, whether in paradise or just normal mansions. So you’ll be seeing a lot more of me on social media, just for my physical and mental wellbeing.”
While some people found humor in her post, others felt like she was not only making fun of Tom…
amy schumer literally made the oscar’s slap about her so im sadly not even surprised she’s mocking tom but it’s just plain nasty to do that when he was promoting mental health charities for young people…

you’d think amy schumer, the mother of a young son, would think twice about parodying a video of a man openly discussing his mental health struggles. especially considering she’s raising a boy in a country where 69.68% of suicides last year were white men.

Amy Schumer? You mocking a person raising awareness and providing tools for young people to deal with their mental health is precisely the reason why Tom Holland stays away from toxic social media. Thank you for proving his point.

After noticing the backlash she was receiving, the comedian clarified with this statement on her Instagram story: “Not shading Spider-Man. Making fun of myself. Of course social media is toxic!”
Even though there was a lot of drama, I was glad Tom found a way to help with his mental health.
