Millions have sung.
Billions have voted. One more will win.
One last
time.
After 15 seasons, host, Ryan
Seacrest has
crowned the final ‘American Idol’ winner. Earlier
this week, the
competition had
been narrowed down to two phenomenal finalist, Trent Harmon and
La’Porsha
Renae however, before the winner
was announced, Idol celebrated their
past participants.
In an epic parade of Idol
Alum performances, superstars who
made their start on the Idol stage
returned to
where it all began. Carrie Underwood, Chris Daughtry, Jordin
Sparks, Kellie
Pickler, Clay
Aiken, and many more were in attendance to send Idol off on a high
note.
Kelly
Clarkson,
the first winner of ‘American Idol’, had previously
recorded a
medley of her biggest hits which the
show aired in place of her live
performance. Clarkson is expecting her
second child any day now and was
unable
to be in attendance however, she was tweeting along, at
home:
Bittersweet but I’m excited 4 tonight! #lastperformance #IdolFinale From the beginning 2 the end it has been an honor @AmericanIdol

Other Idol
favorites in
attendance included William
Hung, who performed his
memorable audition song, Ricky Martin’s ‘She Bangs’
and Larry
Platt (aka. Pants on the Ground Guy).
The final show of the
series was filled
with amazing performances and reliving iconic moments
which were sure to make
any Idol
fan extremely nostalgic for when it all began.
In addition to
the
talented Alums, original co-host,
Brian Dunkleman and the original judges,
Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy
Jackson also made appearances.
Current
judges, Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick Jr. also took
the stage to
perform for the
Idol audience one last time.
Finally, it was time for
the final Idol winner to be
announced.
For the last time ever, Ryan Seacrest uttered the words, “dim
the
lights.”
After a
moment of suspense, Seacrest announced, “The winner of
American Idol, Season
15, is…… TRENT HARMON!” Harmon,
overcome with excitement
and emotion, collapsed to the floor before rising
once again to perform his
upcoming first single, ‘Falling’. You can watch his emotional performance
below.
Having hosted
for all 15 seasons, from the beginning to the end,
Seacrest closed out the
show one last time, or did he?
Slightly choked up and
holding back tears, he thanked the audience at home
for watching and ended by
saying a heartfelt, “Goodbye…… for now,” before the screen cut to
black.
Did the ‘American Idol‘ series just
have a
cliffhanger ending?
Could there be a potential Idol spinoff in the works? Only
time will tell
however, until then, we bid
farewell to an iconic pop culture
phenomenon, ‘American
Idol’.
