According to the director of her latest film, Amber Heard has a promising future in Hollywood, despite her high-profile legal battle with Johnny Depp.
Conor Allyn, who directed Heard in “In The Fire,” shared his belief that the upcoming movie will serve as a platform for a remarkable comeback for the actress.
Heard, along with Allyn and several co-stars, attended the premiere of “In The Fire” at the Taormina Film Festival in Italy over the weekend.
Set in the 1890s, the indie thriller features Heard in the role of Grace, a psychiatrist. The film finished production in March 2022, several months prior to her defamation trial with Depp in Virginia.
The six-week courtroom spectacle concluded in June 2022 with a judgment of $10.35 million against Heard for defaming Depp through a 2018 op-ed where she referred to herself as a domestic abuse victim without mentioning Depp. The jury also awarded Heard $2 million in her countersuit.
Depp agreed to settle the case in December 2022 for $1 million, which was recently paid by Heard’s insurance company.
Allyn expressed his confidence in Heard’s future, stating to People magazine at the premiere, “Amber has an incredibly bright future ahead. I think ‘In The Fire’ showcases her talents as an actor. It’s something she is very proud of, and we are excited to release it to the public.” He further added that the film will provide her with an opportunity to move beyond the trial and make a strong comeback.
Regarding Heard’s future in the entertainment industry, Allyn noted that she possesses the ability, intelligence, and charisma to venture into directing or writing if she so desires. He commended her talents and understanding of storytelling and even envisioned her as a director.
At the premiere, Heard described “In The Fire” as a beautiful movie that explores the profound and extraordinary power of love. She emphasized its themes of love’s boundaries, creation, and overwhelming force.
Allyn praised Heard for her role, highlighting her immediate connection with the character and her ability to bring both strengths and flaws to life.
Heard’s passion and dedication to the film were evident, as she immersed herself fully in the project and demonstrated an in-depth understanding of the script and characters. Allyn expressed his gratitude for having a partner like Heard, who shared the same passion and commitment.
“In The Fire” also stars Eduardo Noriega, Lorenzo Mcgovern Zaini, Yari Gugliucci, and Luca Calvani.
