The fantasty musical about the life of Elton John titled Rocketman has been released.
Taron Egerton (Kingsman) stars as Sir Elton John and man, can he sing!
“I will always be singing on set. No miming. I’m just not interested in doing it that way,” Egerton told Collider. “Everyone thinks it’s a biopic. It isn’t. It’s a fantasy musical. So it’s actually his songs used to express important beats in his life at emotional moments. He’s not the only character that sings.”
Here’s the official synopsis: Rocketman is an epic musical fantasy about the incredible human story of Elton John’s breakthrough years. The film follows the fantastical journey of transformation from shy piano prodigy Reginald Dwight into international superstar Elton John. This inspirational story – set to Elton John’s most beloved songs and performed by star Taron Egerton – tells the universally relatable story of how a small-town boy became one of the most iconic figures in pop culture. Rocketman also stars Jamie Bell (Fantastic Four) as Elton’s longtime lyricist and writing partner Bernie Taupin, Richard Madden (Game of Thrones) as Elton’s first manager, John Reid, and Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom) as Elton’s mother Sheila Farebrother.
The film also stars Gemma Jones (Bridget Jones’ Baby) with Dexter Fletcher (Eddie the Eagle) as the director.
Rocketman hits theaters on May 31.
