‘A Million Little Things’ Creator DJ Nash and the Cast Share the Meaning Behind the Show

We’re still over a month away from the series premiere of ABC’s Dramedy series A Million Little Things, but we can already tell this series will be pulling hard at those heartstrings.

In a new featurette video posted to the show’s social media accounts, we learn that the series actually has a deep, personal meaning for its creator, DJ Nash.

A Million Little Things draws inspiration for its name from the popular quote, ”Friendship isn’t a big thing – it’s a million little things.” The new series focuses on a group of friends who are forced to finally wake up and start living their lives to the fullest after one of their own unexpectedly passes away. In the below video, Nash begins by explaining how the series is based on an actual event which took place in his own personal life. It was at that moment that his life changed and he began living differently. This theme, as well as the thought that maybe everything does happen for a reason, will be carried throughout the series.

In addition to Nash’s commentary, the cast dives into what their roles and the series mean to each of them. We’ve already got several packs of tissues set aside for this series! Check out the video on the meaning behind A Million Little Things below.

A Million Little Things stars stars David Giuntoli as Eddie Saville, Ron Livingston as Jon Dixon, Romany Malco as Rome Howard, Allison Miller as Maggie Bloom, Christina Moses as Regina Howard, Christina Ochoa as Ashley Morales, Grace Park as Katherine Kim, James Roday as Gary Mendez, Stephanie Szostak as Delilah Dixon and Lizzy Greene as Sophie Dixon. In addition to Nash, Aaron Kaplan and Dana Honor are also executive producers; and James Griffiths is the director on the pilot and an executive producer, from ABC Studios/Kapital Entertainment.

Some have achieved success, others are struggling in their careers and relationships, but all of them feel stuck in life. After one of them dies unexpectedly, it’s just the wake-up call the others need to finally start living. Along the way, they discover that friends may be the one thing to save them from themselves.”[/row]
