‘A League of Extraordinary Gentlemen’ is getting a reboot!

I don’t know about you, but I actually liked the 2003 movie that starred Sean Connery. But sadly, the film failed to launch a franchise and the 2013 TV pilot didn’t quite make the cut for a full series.

So 20th Century Fox is hoping to redeem themselves with a reboot!

A League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is basically “the Justice League of Victorian England” says the creator Alan Moore. It involves famous literary characters like Allan Quatermain, Mina Murray, Captain Nemo, The Invisible Man and Dr Jekyll/Mr Hyde. They team up to face famous enemies like Dorian Gray, Professor Moriarty, Fu Manchu, and the aliens from The War of the Worlds.

The 2003 film was “loosely based”  on the comic books but this reboot should follow the original sources more closely. Well if they learned their lesson, that is.

So let’s take a look at the League, shall we.

Allan Quatermain, the famous British hunter and star of books such as King Solomon’s Mines, is basically the father figure of the group. He relies on his excellent shooting abilities.

Mina Murray, from Dracula, is a strong, seductive, immortal, kick-ass leader.

Captain Nemo provides the main transportation for the team, a submarine he created called the Nautilus. He is basically a very vengeful pirate but is always there for the team whenever they need to escape

The Invisible Man is well… invisible. He is the jokester of the group. He is mostly good natured, but he has his moments.

Dr Jekyll/Mr Hyde is a haunted pair. Think of the Hulk but darker and a lot harder to control.

That’s about all that 20th Century Fox has announced at this time. We’ll keep you posted with more updates.
