7 Superhero (and Villain) themed recipes for your Summer BBQ/Party

As of a few days ago, Summer is officially HERE! With Heroes and Villains FanFest New York/New Jersey and Fourth of July just around the corner, I find myself excited for multiple things. First, Heroes and Villains Fan Fest itself. I’ve been to two already and they both have been an amazing experience. Second, Fourth of July. May Freedom forever ring! Third, I am so stoked to fire up my grill and start BBQing. Actually, writing this right now is making me crave BBQ food! Whether you are heading to the shore for the weekend, or staying at home this upcoming weekend, there is always time for a great BBQ. As I was scrolling through Pinterest, I found some pretty cool recipes and food designs that center around some of our favorite superhero tv shows and movies. 6 oz. pineapple juice
1½ oz. white rum
1½ oz. blue Curaçao
3–4 blue raspberry Jolly Rancher candies (optional)

The night before making: Divide pineapple juice between sections of an ice cube tray and freeze until solid.

Crush Jolly Rancher candies with a mortar and pestle, or seal in a plastic bag and crush with a rolling pin or another heavy kitchen tool. Empty “crystals” onto a small plate. Rub the rim of a margarita or hurricane glass with a lime slice and roll it in the candy crystals to coat, then chill glass in fridge or freezer while you blend the cocktail.

Combine frozen pineapple juice cubes, rum, and blue Curaçao in a blender, pulse to break up the frozen juice, and blend until smooth. Pour into glass. Serve with a straw (and maybe a spoon).

2. The ‘Superhero’ Burger

You can’t have a BBQ without some delicious burgers! I stumbled upon this recipe below and I am ABSOLUTELY in love with it!!

  • Heat grill to medium heat. Place peppers and onions in center of large sheet heavy-duty foil; drizzle with 1/4 cup steak sauce. Fold to make packet. Grill 2 min. Meanwhile, mix meat and 2 Tbsp. of the remaining steak sauce; shape into 4 (1/2-inch) patties. Grill 8 to 10 min. or until vegetables are crisp-tender and burgers are done (160ºF), turning burgers after 4 min. and brushing with remaining steak sauce.
Remove packet from grill; cut slits in foil to release steam before opening packet. Fill rolls with burgers and vegetables.

1. ‘Oliver Queen’s’ Chili

I actually tried out this recipe, and let me tell you… it is AMAZING! The best part about it? You can put it on almost anything (tastes really good on-top of a hot dog or a burger) or you can eat it as is on its own. Either way, I highly recommend it!!
