‘The Walking Dead’: Facts and Easter Eggs

As we wait for the return of Season 10 of The Walking Dead, AMC has been blessing us with behind-the-scenes footage.  Recently, the show shared facts and easter eggs from Season 10, Episode 5, “What It Always Is.” The video gives us information on several characters, as well as insight into how the episode was produced.

The video opens with a focus on Kelly (Angel Theory). It states, “The writers based Kelly’s hearing loss on the actor who plays her. They reached out to Angel Theory to ask about her experiences, then incorporated them into the episode.”

As the video continues, it provides additional information, one interesting note is on Brandon (Blaine Kern III), the Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) fan-boy. “On the show, Brandon is the son of old Saviors. He integrated into Alexandria after the fall of the Sanctuary, but still harbors resentment toward Rick. You can see him as Negan’s guard in “Lines We Cross” and “Silence the Whisperers.” This is certainly an interesting fact, as it shows that the writers were setting up how interested he was in Negan before we even knew it ourselves.

As well, the video affirms Daryl’s (Norman Reedus) move towards more of a leadership position. According to showrunner Angela Kang, “he knows when it’s wiser to fight and when it’s wiser to forgive.”

The video goes on to discuss facts on Ezekial (Khary Payton), Connie (Lauren Ridloff), and Siddiq (Avi Nash).  Also, the video continues to share some visual insight into the production of the episode.  Finally, the video shares two classic Negan scenes at the end.  One of these scenes is the great exchange between Negan and Carl (Chandler Riggs).

The Walking Dead returns with it’s mid-season premier on February 23 at 9 p.m. As always, we’ll have all of the coverage of the episode and all of the news leading up to its return.
