Capcom announced during today’s PlayStation State of Play broadcast that they are celebrating the 20th anniversary of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis by releasing a completely re-imagined Resident Evil 3 akin to the remake they made of Resident Evil 2.
Resident Evil 3 follows Jill Valentine as she escapes Raccoon City while dodging the relentless pursuit of the terrifying Nemesis. In addition to the newly re-imagined Resident Evil 3, Capcom is also releasing Resident Evil Resistance, an online asymmetrical multiplayer game previously known as Project Resistance.
For those unfamiliar with the story, Resident Evil 3 takes place during the hours leading up to and directly preceding the events of Resident Evil 2. Filled with heart stopping combat and creative puzzles, Resident Evil 3 follows Jill during her escape for the crumbling Raccoon City while bioweapon Nemesis hunts her down.
The original game will remain intact, only updated with the RE Engine, previously used in Resident Evil 7 and more recently the widely acclaimed Resident Evil 2. Players can expect new content as well updated HD graphics and modernized gameplay mechanics.
Resident Evil Resistance is a 4 vs 1 multiplayer experience where players take on the role of Annette Birkin and other Resident Evil franchise characters as they fight their way through a series of deadly experiments. Four players will control the survivors who must use teamwork and strategy to survive, while another player will be able to take control of G-Birkin and the Tyrant and attempt to take down the survivors.
Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil Resistance will be released on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam on April 3rd, 2020. North American console owners will be able to purchase a collector’s edition containing a physical copy of the game, a Jill Valentine figure, artbook, a Racoon City map poster, and a digital soundtrack. Pre-orders will also receive a Classic Costume Pack for Jill Valentine and Carlos Oliveira.
