In an exciting turn of events for fans of The Purge franchise, Ethan Hawke will return to the franchise in next week’s finale of The Purge television series. In 2013, Hawke played the character of James Sandin in the original film. James was a security system salesman before dying after protecting his family from home invaders and neighbors that were not so neighborly after all.
Although fans might not have anticipated seeing the character again, James will appear in the finale’s cold open. The opening flashes back to one week before the first national purge. This scene showcases him hours before the first purge, the first time the nation could test his high-tech security system. What were James’s thoughts on the system before his demise? As a fan, I am rather curious to find out and excited to see Hawke return to the franchise in the finale.
In addition to the return of Hawke’s character, in finale episode entitled “7:01 AM” purge night rages. We will see storylines wrap up for the characters we have grown to love and hate this season. Do you think that Ryan and his crew will be able to rescue Tommy? Is Esme going to be able to take down the NFFA? Will they discover Vivian is helping Esme? Can Turner escape Ben’s clutches? How are Marcus and Michelle going to survive the night?
Hopefully, tonight, we have the answers to these questions and more. And if not, maybe we will attain these answers by the time the second season finale. This year’s finale of The Purge airs on Tuesday, December 17 at 9/8C on USA Network. Don’t forget to catch up before tonight’s episode “Hail Mary” by reading our recap for “Before the Sirens” and watch tonight’s episode of The Purge on the USA Network at 9 pm EST.
