‘Star Wars Thrawn: Ascendancy’ Cover Revealed

It has been a pretty good month for Star Wars fans. We’ve had Jedi Fallen OrderMandalorian, Countless Baby Yoda memes, and The Rise of Skywalker is just weeks away. One of the many things I love about Star Wars, particularly most recently, is the push they are making with books. I absolutely love reading and one of my favourite authors is Timothy Zahn. If you are not familiar with that name let me enlighten you. Zahn is responsible for one of my all-time favourite characters… Grand Admiral Thrawn or if you’re brave enough, Mitth’raw’nuruodo.

A little while ago, a new trilogy surrounding Thrawn was announced. With Thrawn’s current status set as missing after the events of Rebels, this new trilogy written by Zahn is a prequel series.

This new trilogy, called Ascendancy, will focus on Thrawn’s life before he joined the Empire and became a Grand Admiral. Essentially, these books will expand on Thrawn’s origin and provide a deeper exploration of the Chiss Ascendancy and how Thrawn honed his unique calculative abilities.

Last night, the title and cover for the first book was revealed on social media:

The first book will be called Chaos Rising and is due out in May 2020.

“A long time ago, beyond a galaxy far, far away…. Beginning in May 2020, an all new trilogy by Timothy Zahn journeys beyond the edge of the map into the Unknown Regions.”

'Star Wars Thrawn: Ascendancy' Cover Revealed

I cannot express my excitement. Thrawn is such a fascinating character. If you are curious, I highly recommend reading the Heir to the Empire Trilogy. Even though it isn’t canon, it is a great introduction to Thrawn’s character.
