Jeffrey Dean Morgan Lands Lead Role in Horror Film ‘Shrine’

The Walking Dead‘s Jeffrey Dean Morgan is heading to the big screen to star in a new horror flick from Screen Gems.

Morgan will be taking on the lead role in the upcoming film titled Shrine. The film will be an adaptation of the novel of the same name written by James Herbert.

Deadline describes Shrine as a story that “focuses on a disgraced journalist who discovers a series of seemingly divine miracles in a small New England town and uses them to resurrect his career, but the ‘miracles’ may have a much darker source.”

Production is expected to begin on the film in February, so don’t worry The Walking Dead fans. It would be after the series has finished filming season 10 and before any production on a new season would begin. Evan Spiliotopoulos, Sam Raimi and Robert Tapert (Ghost House) are producing.

Morgan is pumped for his new opportunity and took to Twitter yesterday to share the news. He wrote, “Great novel. FANTASTIC SCRIPT. Can’t wait.”

In addition to playing Negan on The Walking Dead, Morgan is also best known for his roles on Grey’s Anatomy, Supernatural, and The Good Wife on television. On the big screen, he’s well known for his roles in PS. I Love You, Rampage, and The Watchmen.

Morgan can be seen next in season 10 of The Walking Dead premiering on Sunday, October 6th on AMC.
