‘His Dark Materials’ Coming to HBO

His Dark Materials is set to premiere November 4th on HBO.

This highly anticipated miniseries is based on the Philip Pullman fantasy series, which follows two children as they explore multi-dimensional realms.

The eight-part series, scripted by Jack Thorne (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child), covers the first three books in the series: The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife, and The Amber Spyglass.

It tells the story of Lyra, who lives in Jordan College, Oxford. There because of her Uncle, Lord Asriel, she lives a sheltered life while under the watchful protection of The Master and Librarian Scholar Charles.

The miniseries stars Hamilton’s Lin-Manuel Miranda as balloonist and adventurer Lee Scoresby, Ruth Wilson as Mrs. Coulter, and Dafne Keen as Lyra, as well as James McAvoy as Lord Asriel, Clarke Peters as The Master of Jordan College, James Cosmo as Farder Coram, and Anne-Marie Duff as a Costa, with Will Keen as Father MacPhail and Ariyon Bakare as Lord Boreal.

It is being produced by New Line Cinema and Bad Wolf for BBC One and HBO.
