Christian Serratos in Talks for ‘Selena’ Series at Netflix

The Walking Dead‘s Christian Serratos just maybe dancing and singing into her next role. Serratos is reportedly in talks to star in a Netflix series focusing on the life of musician Selena Quintanilla.

The series was first announced towards the end of last year. It will focus on the early days of Selena’s life.

The official description of the series from Netflix is as follows:

[row]”As Mexican-American Tejano singer Selena comes of age and realizes her dreams, she and her family make tough choices to hold on to love and music.”[/row]

Selena Quintanilla was a rising star and on the verge of becoming a massively successful crossover artist. She was tragically killed by a trusted friend and president of her fan club in 1995. Jennifer Lopez also famously portrayed the young singer in the hit 1997 film Selena.

As of now, neither Netflix nor Serratos have commented but several outlets have reported that close sources confirmed the discussions.

It’s unclear what this casting would mean for Serratos and her role as Rosita Espinoza on AMC’s  The Walking Dead. However, it’s important to remember that an actor taking on another role doesn’t mean they are being killed off the series. Several of the show’s lead cast have worked on other projects. Perhaps most notably of those being Danai Gurira who starred in Marvel’s Black Panther while still maintaining her role as Michonne on the show. We’ll have to wait and see what happens.

The Netflix Selena series will be written and executive produced by Moises Zamora with Jaime Dávila, Rico Martinez, Suzette Quintanilla, Abraham Quintanilla Jr., and Simran A. Singh also executive producing. Campanario Entertainment will produce.

There is no release date yet for the series, however, Serratos will return on The Walking Dead when the show begins its 10th season on October 6th.
