Titled Heels, the eight-episode series will follow “the men and women who chase their dreams in the world of small-town pro wrestling.” Amell will play Jack Spade, the show’s charismatic villain. He’s one of two brothers, warring over their family-owned wrestling promotion and father’s legacy. “In the ring, somebody must play the good guy and somebody must play their nemesis, the heel. But in the real world, those characters can be hard to live up to — or hard to leave behind.”

Heels will be written by Michael Waldron, who is set to write Disney+’s upcoming Loki series. Mike O’Malley will serve as showrunner. Shortly after the news broke, Amell seemingly tweeted to Cody Rhodes, a professional wrestler who has appeared on Arrow, an invitation to join the series.

Stephen Amell has been playing Oliver Queen on The CW’s Arrow since it first premiered in 2012. Arrow kicked off the network’s impressive multi-series Arrowverse, which includes The Flash and Supergirl. The series is currently filming its eighth and final season, which is set to premiere on Tuesday, October 15.
