It’s time for a “new world” of The Walking Dead. The untitled spinoff, which was announced this past April, dropped its first bit of content thanks to a new teaser released by AMC. The series will follow two young female protagonists and the “first generation to come-of-age in the apocalypse.” Showing sketches of the group of characters, fans are able to see the actors and actresses bringing them to life right before their eyes. It also shows some concept art and key elements that will be integral to the series, including a plane crash. Check out the footage below.
AMC ordered a 10-episode season, making it the second spinoff behind the 2009 flagship series and 2015’s Fear the Walking Dead. While casting is still underway, it was confirmed that Alexa Mansour (Unfriended: The Dark Web), Nicolas Cantu (The Amazing World of Gumball), and Hal Cumpston had been cast for starring roles. The drama is co-created by Gimple and longtime Walking Dead writer and producer Matt Negrete, who will serve as showrunner.
The new series will begin filming its 10-episode season soon and will premiere on AMC in Spring 2020. The new addition will give AMC the ability to air Walking Dead content throughout the entire year. In addition, Andrew Lincoln will be appearing in a film trilogy centered on his character Rick Grimes.
