War is on the horizon in the tenth season of The Walking Dead.
Last season, Alpha, Beta and their army of Whisperers made their terrifying debut. In the brand new synopsis just released for the upcoming season, tensions between the survivors and the Whisperers continue to increase. Last season’s encounter and significant deaths are taking a toll on the survivors. They’ve made it this long, defeating any enemy that threated their chance for survival, but for the first time, doubt seems to be a challenge.
Check out the season 10 synopsis below:
It is now Spring, a few months after the end of Season 9 when our group of survivors dared to cross into Whisperer territory during the harsh winter. The collected communities are still dealing with the after-effects of Alpha’s horrific display of power, reluctantly respecting the new borderlines being imposed on them, all while organizing themselves into a militia-style fighting force, preparing for a battle that may be unavoidable.
But the Whisperers are a threat unlike any they have ever faced. Backed by a massive horde of the dead it is seemingly a fight they cannot win. The question of what to do and the fear it breeds will infect the communities and give rise to paranoia, propaganda, secret agendas, and infighting that will test them as individuals and as a society. The very idea of whether civilization can survive in a world filled with the dead hangs in the balance.”
The upcoming 10th season will be another game-changer for the series. New cast members Thora Birch and Kevin Carol will bring even more terror in season 10. Birch and Carol will play new characters named Gamma and Virgil. AMC just revealed the first look at Birch’s Whisperer character which you can see HERE.
Additionally, season 10 is the first full season without Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes. Additionally, Danai Gurira, who plays Michonne, has confirmed her impending exit this season. While the show will still have its heavy-hitting characters like Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) and Carol (Melissa McBride), the series is without a doubt shifting focus to the newer generation of survivors. It will be interesting to see how roles change and the Whisperers war plays out.
The Walking Dead returns to AMC on Sunday, October 6th at 9 PM. Check out the explosive SDCC trailer HERE.
