Four Reasons The Rick Grimes ‘Walking Dead’ Movie Is Filming Soon

This week at San Diego Comic-Con, fans were treated to the teaser for The Walking Dead movie starring Rick Grimes aka. Andrew Lincoln. In a short, mere-seconds, trailer, we are provided with the image of a helicopter flying towards a skyline. More importantly, we were told that this was the Rick Grimes movie and that it would appear in theaters and not on AMC’s streaming network, as first reported. But when will this film hit theaters?

We think it’s soon! Like 2020 soon! Here are four reasons why we think the Rick Grimes Walking Dead movie is filming soon!

Andrew Lincoln Is No Longer Directing

First, Andrew Lincoln will no longer be directing during season ten of The Walking Dead. Normally, this isn’t a big deal, but typically directors are selected and assigned for the episodes for a particular season. The announcement lets us know that something else has come up that will require Andy’s attention. Whatever it is, it has to be pretty important, as Andy made a special trip last year to shadow as a director for an episode, so this departure from directing has to be significant.

(P.S. There was a rumor that Andy was supposed to be at San Diego Comic-Con this past weekend to be part of the tease, but either couldn’t make it or didn’t want to upstage The Walking Dead series. Therefore, this is the reason all of those images of Andy were pasted in Norman Reedus and Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s hotel rooms!)

Andy’s Beard

Second, Andy’s grown a beard. I know, I know, big deal. But is it? At the time of Rick’s departure, he was in full-beard mode. So, it’s time to get the jump on the beard in preparation for filming, and beards just don’t grow overnight. Also, Andy isn’t one who’d go for a fake beard. He’d want to be completely in-character.

Pollyanna McIntosh’s Schedule

Third, Pollyanna McIntosh canceled her Nashville Walker Stalker Con appearance for filming/production/professional obligation. Pollyanna’s character, Anne, is the only character who we pretty much can confirm is also in the films with Rick Grimes. Of course, she could be filming any number of things or even promoting her film, Darlin’.

The Dream Team Is Available

Finally, it takes a team to film a movie – a real cinematic, movie. Parts of that team are now available! Fear The Walking Dead recently wrapped up its filming season, so now some of The Walking Dead’s key members are available; Scott Gimple, in charge of the over-all world of The Walking Dead, Greg Nicotero, executive producer and in charge of the makeup and effects, and Michael Satrazemis, long time Fear and TWD director, along with several others. This group knows what fans of TWD want and are the perfect ones to give it to them!

Sure, this is a lot of speculation. A ton, to be honest. Fans are dying to know what happened to Rick Grimes and, as we all know, the world needs him!

Tell us what you think! Are we getting closer?
