Tom Hanks Warms Our Hearts in the Trailer for ‘A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood’

The very first trailer for A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood dropped on Monday, and it will warm your heart. Tom Hanks stars as the beloved children’s show host Fred Rogers (aka. Mister Rogers) in the new film coming to theaters this fall.

The official synopsis for the film is as follows:
[row]”Tom Hanks portrays Mister Rogers in A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, a timely story of kindness triumphing over cynicism, based on the true story of a real-life friendship between Fred Rogers and journalist Tom Junod. After a jaded magazine writer (Emmy winner Matthew Rhys) is assigned a profile of Fred Rogers, he overcomes his skepticism, learning about empathy, kindness, and decency from America’s most beloved neighbor.”[/row]
In addition to Hanks, the cast includes Matthew Rhys, Susan Kelechi Watson, and Chris Cooper. Marielle Heller directs the film written by Micah Fitzerman-Blue and Noah Harpster. The script is inspired by an article titled Can You Say…Hero? written by Tom Junod. Youree Henley, Peter Saraf, Marc Turtletaub, and Leah Holzer produce.
