Great news for all The Good Doctor fans who are Sharly shippers! Actress Jasika Nicole, who plays Carly on ABC’s hit drama, is now a series regular for the show’s 3rd season. A brand-new press release from ABC formally lists Nicole with the rest of the top-billed cast. That means that things are looking promising that we will be seeing more of Carly and Shaun’s budding relationship in the upcoming new season.
Fans will recall that in the season 2 finale, Dr. Shaun Murphy finally worked up the courage to ask a girl out on a date. That girl was none other than Carly Lever, one of San Jose St. Bonaventure’s Pathologists. The second season ended with Shaun walking up to a house, flowers in hand, ready to finally take a step forward into the dating world. The Good Doctor viewers were stunned when Carly was the one to answer the door. Shaun mustered up all his courage to ask Carly out on a date, and she accepted. This surprising scene all led to this adorable moment of sheer joy for Shaun:
Noticeably missing from the press release was veteran actress Tamlyn Tomita. Tomita plays Allegra Aoki, chairwoman of the board that runs St. Bonaventure. It would appear that Tomita will now be in a recurring role on the series.
In addition to the casting changes, the press release also revealed some interesting hints at what’s to come in season 3.
The press release reads as follows:
It certainly looks like viewers can expect to see a whole new side of Dr. Shaun Murphy in season 3, and we’re totally here for it!
