The spicey trailer for Hustlers is sure to heat things up.
Inspired by the 2015 viral New York Magazine article, Hustlers follows a crew of savvy former strip club employees who band together to turn the tables on their Wall Street clients. The article is titled “The Hustlers at Scores” written by Jessica Pressler.
In the film, Constance Wu plays Destiny who is struggling to make ends meet. She begins stripping when Ramona (J.Lo) takes her under her wing and brings her into their “tight-knit trusting family.”
The rest of the cast includes Lili Reinhart, Keke Palmer, Trace Lysette, Madeline Brewer and Julia Stiles along with Lizzo and Cardi B making their film debuts.
“The film is an empathetic look at women and men, our gender roles, what we’re valued for, what we’ve been told is our value in every movie, TV show, every corner of culture,” writer Lorene Scafaria told The Hollywood Reporter. “Men have been told they’re worth the size of their bank accounts. Women have been told they’re worth the symmetry of their faces, their bodies, their beauty and that’s what this film is based on. The rules of the club are the rules of the world.”
The all-star cast hustles their way into theaters September 13, 2019.
