Hello everyone! Esports is a growing genre, but no one so far has really done it like Overwatch League. The league is very similar to the NFL or NBA with teams, rosters, and schedules. As of right now we are on the midyear break, but tonight begins the second half of the second season!
The schedule is as follows-
The San Francisco Shock (11-3) versus the Atlanta Reign (7-7) – starts at 6pm CST on ESPN, Disney XD, Twitch, and the Overwatch League app
The Florida Mayhem (1-13) versus the Seoul Dynasty (7-7) – starts at 7:45pm CST on ESPN, Twitch, and the Overwatch League app
The Guangzhou Charge (5-9) versus the Chengdu Hunters (6-8) – starts at 9:30pm on ESPN, Twitch, and the Overwatch League app
The Los Angeles Valiant (3-11) versus the Shanghai Dragons (7-7) – starts at 11:15pm on ESPN, Twitch, and the Overwatch League app
This is this writers first time covering anything Overwatch League after doing some research in preparation for our interview with the Atlanta Reign, which you can read (and watch the interview!) right here. I have not gotten into Esports like some have, but I look forward to seeing all of this in a professional setting. They make these matches very fun to watch, and keeping attention is something you have to do at a high level with any gaming. There are plenty of young ADHD players that will be tuning in so it is a must.
Overwatch League is in season 2 and stage 3 of the season itself. The league expanded with eight new teams this season including this writers favorite, the Atlanta Reign (#LetItReign baby!). If you want to catch your favorite team but they are not playing today, tune into ESPN, Twitch, or the Overwatch League app all weekend (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) to catch more games! You can download the Twitch or Overwatch League app on the Apple or Google Play stores and watch for free. If you link your account you also can earn some Overwatch currency to use towards skins to support you favorite team when you play Overwatch!
