Lucy Hale and Robbie Amell to Star in Film Adaption of ‘The Hating Game’

For a book called The Hating Game, we have to admit that we are loving the cast bringing the story to life! According to Deadline, When We First Met’s Robbie Amell and Pretty Little Liars’ Lucy Hale will be starring in the upcoming film adaption of Sally Thorne’s beloved romance novel The Hating Game.

The story follows “kind-hearted Lucy Hutton (Hale) and her cold, efficient nemesis Joshua Templeton (Amell). Resolving to achieve professional success without compromising her ethics, Lucy embarks on a ruthless game of one-upmanship against Josh, a rivalry that is impossibly complicated by her growing attraction to him.” It will be directed by Then Came You’s Peter Hutchings from a script written by Christina Mengert. Thorne’s novel was originally published in 2016 and became a USA Today Bestseller in 2018.

Amell is no stranger to romantic comedies having starred in The Duff and Netflix’s When We First Met. He will soon be partnering up again with the streaming giant for Desperado, a comedy starring Nasim Pedrad (SNL), Jason Mitchell (The Chi), and Anna Camp (Pitch Perfect. Hale is best known for her role as Aria Montgomery in Freeform’s Pretty Little Liars, which ran for seven seasons from 2010-2017. Since then she has starred in the 2018 thriller Truth or Dare, The CW’s short-lived dramedy Life Sentence, and will soon star in the Riverdale spinoff Katy Keene.
