“I’ve been having a lot of emotions about the whole thing, ‘ME!’ is a song about embracing your individuality and really celebrating it and owning it.” Swift said. “I think that with a pop song, we have the ability to get a song stuck in people’s heads, and I just want it to be one that makes them feel better about themselves.”
Swift hinted at the new song with a bunch of mysterious Instagram posts with the caption “4.26” counting down to today. She also had a “surprise clue reveal today in Nashville!” when she made a public appearance, standing in front of a colorful butterfly mural with the word “ME!” painted in black between the butterfly’s wings, confirming speculation that new music was on its way.

Swift has said she enjoys dropping hints like the countdown and mural because her fans pay attention to every detail.
“I cannot believe how dedicated they are, how thoughtful. I can’t believe how much they care,” she said. “So it makes it more fun for me to create music, to create videos knowing they will care about Easter eggs or clues or hints. It’s great to make it for people who care.”
“ME!” will be Swift’s first new music since her “Reputation” album.
