David Harbour Joins Marvel’s ‘Black Widow’

With Avengers: Endgame close on the horizon, it’s time to start looking towards the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and with Captain Marvel leading the way, there’s a new female-led standalone coming our way soon. Scarlett Johansson ‘s character Black Widow, who has been on board since the first Avengers film, is finally getting her long overdue story told on the big screen and the cast is certainly heating up.

The Hollywood Reporter exclusively reported this morning that Stranger Things star David Harbour has joined the film, which is being dubbed as an “internationally-set story centering on Natasha Romanoff, a spy and assassin who grew up being trained by the KGB before breaking from their grasp and becoming an agent of SHIELD and Avenger.” Rising star and Fighting For My Family’s FLorence Pugh has also joined the cast. In classic Marvel fashion, no details regarding their characters have been released.

Black Widow will be directed by Lore’s Cate Shortland and Jac Schaeffer wrote the script. It is set to begin filming in London this June.

The next few months are certainly going to be big for Harbour who is gearing up for the release of Hellboy, in which he stars as the titular character caught between the worlds of the supernatural and human as he battles an ancient sorceress bent on revenge. Also coming up for Harbour is the third season of Netflix’s Stranger Things for which he will once again star as the lovable sheriff Jim Hopper.
