Riverdale’s Lili Reinhart joins ‘Hustlers’ with Jennifer Lopez, Cardi B and more

Riverdale’s Lili Reinhart is going to show us more of her “serpent dance” skills in her upcoming movie Hustlers.

Hustlers is a revenge tale about strip-club employees who join forces against the Wall Street guys who are their clients and scam them out of thousands of dollars. The film was inspired by a 2016 New York Magazine article by Jessica Pressler.

“The film is an empathetic look at women and men, our gender roles… what we’ve been told is our value in every movie… Men have been told they’re worth the size of their bank accounts. Women have been told they’re worth the symmetry of their faces, their bodies, their beauty, and that’s what this film is based on. The rules of the club are the rules of the world,” said Hustlers writer and director, Lorene Scafaria.

Reinhart joins Jennifer Lopez, Constance Wu (Crazy Rich Asians), Julia Stiles (Silver Linings Playbook), Keke Palmer (Scream Queens), Mercedes Ruehl (The Fisher King) and musician Cardi B, who is making her big screen debut in the film. Lopez is also a producer on the project. Mette Towley (Cats) and Trace Lysette (Transparent)are also in negotiations to come aboard.

Jennifer Lopez, who just got engaged (did you see that ring!) and is working on other projects, like World of Dance, is also busy getting ready for this film. She bought a portable stripper pole and has admitted on Jimmy Kimmel that she has a newfound respect for strippers. “I have bruises everywhere,” Lopez admitted. “It’s so hard. I have a lot of respect for people who do the pole.” She has even gone so far as to say that stripping is significantly harder than professional dancing.

“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to work with this dynamic group of women,” said Scafaria. “We’re grateful to have assembled such a powerhouse cast and can’t wait to start filming at the end of the week.”

Hustlers will start shooting March 22 in New York. There is no word on a release date yet.
