Ezra Miller Is Writing His Own Script For ‘The Flash’

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ezra Miller, who is known for playing Barry Allen in Justice League and Credence in Fantastic Beasts, is having a go at writing his own script for The Flash with Grant Morrison.

The development of the solo film has been a long and strenuous process. John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein have been attached to the project since January last year and seem to be following the route of Aquaman and Shazam! by having a light-hearted and fun superhero story.

This is where the problem lies. Miller actually wants a darker story for The Flash. I honestly admire him for that, I think that takes a lot of guts and since he seems quite familiar with the character and world, I’d be very interested to see what he produces with Morrison.

So what does this mean?

Depending on the outcome, there is a plus side and a down side. The plus side is that Ezra’s script gets the green light and they start using that. The down side is that if his script is rejected and he isn’t happy with how the project is forming… he could walk away from Barry Allen. Considering the recasting of Deadshot, it is a possibility that we could see a new Flash. Personally, I don’t want to see that happen.

The next few weeks could reveal a lot about DC’s future. I’ve written a couple of scripts before and it’s not the easiest thing in the world, however, when I think of The Flash, I imagine a mixture of both comedy and dark undertones. Despite The Flash being a fun character, he has a very dark past and even dark story lines. Perhaps they could compromise and combine the scripts in some way.
