Unfortunately, Chris Evans has had to drop out of the upcoming Netflix feature The Devil All The Time due to scheduling, but fortunately, his Marvel buddy Sebastian Stan will be stepping in. I mean, who better to replace Captain America than the Winter Soldier, right? Plus, the film also stars Spider-Man’s Tom Holland, so any recast other than another Marvel player would have been quite unfortunate.
From Antonio Campos, The Devil All the Time is based on Donald Ray Pollock’s novel of the same name and is described as “a midwestern gothic involving a serial killer couple, a faith-testing preacher, and a corrupt local sheriff in a story told across two decades set in a place called Knockemstiff, Ohio – a forgotten backwoods where a storm of faith, violence and redemption brews.” Joining Stan and Holland are Hollywood A-listers Robert Pattinson, Bill Skarsgard, Mia Wasikowska, Eliza Scanlen, and Gabriel Ebert.
Jake Gyllenhaal will serve as producer for the project alongside Riva Marker and their Nine Stories production company. Antonio Campos (The Sinner) will direct the film from a script that he wrote with Paul Campos. Randall Poster and Max Born will partner up with Nine Stories for production credit and Annie Marter and Jacob Jaffke will executive produce.
Stan recently appeared in Avengers: Infinity War with Holland and Evans and is set to appear with them in April’s Avengers: Endgame. Other credits include Academy Award nominee I, Tonya, Destroyer, Logan Lucky, and The Martian.
What are your thoughts on the recasting? Are you excited to see Stan and Holland partner up? Let us know!
