Negan Arrives In ‘Tekken 7’ February 28th

I guess the title was really all any of you were looking for? I can’t just end the article here so you can celebrate? No, you want more info? Alright let’s see what we can put together here.

Negan was teased at last year’s EVO 2018 event in August by Namco Bandai. It was somewhat of a surprise considering the season pass was wrapping up, but as many studios have began to do, a second season was announced. There will be six additional fighters in the pass, including some returning combatants, but none had the level of draw that was Negan.

Today at EVO Namco Bandai gave us a new trailer showing off Negan and Julia Chang and announcing both would release on February 28th. Negan seems like he will not lack any of the characters charm as the above trailer shows, even down to iconic lines. According to IMDB, Jeffrey Dean Morgan is even voicing the character in Tekken 7.

Negan is just the latest in a long line of fighting games to grab celebrity guest stars. Mortal Kombat 9 introduced God of War’s Kratos for PS3 and Freddy Krueger in the season pass and Mortal Kombat X had characters like Alien and Predator included in its pass. More recently we saw Injustice 2 include Hellboy and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Soul Calibur VI added Geralt from the Witcher series and 2B from Nier Automata. Celebrity or at least well known fighters seem to be the rule rather than the exception now, but if developers keep doing it this well I will keep buying them.

Tekken 7 is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. You can pick up the second season pass for $29.99 on any of the respective digital store fronts.
