Marvel’s ‘The Eternals’ Movie To Start Filming In August

With Marvel Studios bringing Phase 3 to an end with Avengers: Endgame, Phase 4 has brought a lot of mystery to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We’ve had some films confirmed like Spider-Man: Far From Home and Black Widow, but other than that, we know very little about Phase 4. Will they include the new characters they’ve gained from Fox? who knows!

However, one other film is almost ready to begin filming. The Eternals will reportedly being filming in Atlanta in August 2019.

Marvel have hired Matthew and Ryan Firpo to write the script and have also hired Chloé Zhao to direct it. As of yet, no confirmed cast members have been announced but it looks to be heading to cinema some time in 2020, however this could change since the production schedule has also changed, probably as a result of Black Widow which is reportedly filming in June instead of February.

In the comics, Jack Kirby’s story largely revolves around the war between the Eternals and Deviants, two powerful Celestial races that have been battling over Earth for years.

In terms of characters, the giant ancient team is full of weird and wonderful beings: Karen, Druig, Piper, Elysius, Forgotten One, Ikaris, Makkari, Sersi, Starfox, Thena, and Zuras, just to name a few. Whether they will all appear in the movie is currently unknown but it could be a massive cast, with additional rumors of a Greek God playing a role in the film.

A rumored synopsis, that has not yet been confirmed by Marvel, claims that the movie is a prequel to the entire MCU, taking place millions of years ago.

With filming slowly on the horizon, we can definitely expect more news within the coming months, especially news on casting and the confirmed characters involved in Marvel’s next galactic space adventure.

What do you think about Phase 4? As someone who isn’t awfully familiar with The Eternals, what do you think of the MCU introducing them?
