DC Might be Considering Robert Pattinson to Play Batman

Warner Brothers Pictures

Ben Affleck confirmed his departure from the DC Universe last week, and rumors are swirling about the “younger actor” who will take his place as the caped crusader.

Keep in mind that these are just rumors, but it’s likely that those in power at DC are considering many option. The latest name we are hearing is Twilight star Robert Pattinson. He joins the list which has grown pleasingly long. It seems like it includes every relatively popular 30 something actor with a following. Ryan Gosling, Jake Gyllenhaal, Jack O’Connell and even Mad Men ex-star Jon Hamm. Last week, Nick Jonas even expressed interest in taking on the role. Now, DC is rumored to be turning its attention to Twiglight and Harry Potter franchise star, Robert Pattinson.

The rumor began when Fan Artist BossLogic sent out a tweet expressing his surprise at some new rumblings, mentioning an inside source.

“A choice that I never would have thought to try but been hearing some background chatter about Robert Pattinson being looked at, if the talks (source) are true then all of our predictions were wrong  This might be your new Bruce #thebatman #batman”

The tweet also included a fan made rendering of the actor as Bruce Wayne.

Although the studio has not yet chosen a replacement, it’s unlikely Pattinson would be in talks just yet. We also can’t be sure he would be interested in such a role.

Pattinson was involved in two large franchises as he rose to fame, so he’s no stranger to large fanbases and how to handle them. As far as DC comics fans taking to the idea, we are assuming this would be a no-go. The Twilight fanbase was infamously vocal, and the nature of the sci-fi corny romance turned some fans off.

Regardless of his involvement in such a fanatic franchise, Pattinson has been critically acclaimed in his recent projects such as High Life opposite Juliette Binoche, and David Zellner’s Damsel. The actor is set to appear as The Dauphin in in David Michôd’s The King.

Fire off in the comments. Do you see Robert Pattinson as Batman?
