‘Detective Pikachu’ Sequel Already In The Works

Detective Pikachu, despite heading to theaters in May this year, is already getting a sequel which Legendary are slowly working on after hiring Oren Uziel to pen the script.

It appears that Legendary are incredibly confident about the upcoming release that stars Deadpo- I mean, Ryan Reynolds as the adorable Pikachu.

The first film, directed by Rob Letterman who directed Goosebumps, revolves around the self-proclaimed detective who has been hired by Tim Goodman, a former Pokémon Trainer, to help find his missing father.

Since the news about the sequel is very recent, it is unclear what Uziel’s script will incorporate. At the moment, Uziel has been working on Paramount’s adaptation of Sonic the Hedgehog which is due out in November- I’m sure everyone is excited about that, right?… right?. He is also writing the script for a Supergirl film with Warner Bros. Most notably, Uziel wrote the screenplay for 22 Jump Street and The Cloverfield Paradox.

Even though the film is roughly 3 months away, we still don’t know that much about Detective Pikachu. The trailer only offered a taste of what the story has to offer and which Pokémon will appear. So far we’ve seen Psyduck, Charizard, Snubbull, Mr. Mime (*shivers*), an angry looking Jigglypuff, a load of Bulbasaurs and even Greninja.

As a big Pokémon Go player *rotates hat backwards*, here are just a few Pokémon that I would love to see pop up.

  1. Mewtwo & Mew (Although I have a feeling they may be saved for the sequel)
  2. Arcanine
  3. Magikarp!
  4. Snorlax
  5. Eevee
  6. Meowth

Detective Pikachu is due out on May 10th. Which Pokémon are you hoping to see and do you have any ideas as to what the sequel might be about? Let us know in the comments below.
