‘Black Panther’ Returning to Theaters with Free Screenings to Honor Black History Month

This February, you can journey back to Wakanda once more on the big screen. On Monday, Marvel Studios announced that the Oscar-nominated film Black Panther will be returning to theaters for a limited run ahead of the Oscars awards ceremony which will air on February 24th. The film has earned a historic Best-Picture nomination but faces some stacked competition in the category.

In addition to its pre-Oscars theatrical re-release, Marvel announced that it will be hosting free screenings of the movie at participating AMC Theaters in honor of Black History Month. You can search for participating theaters in your area HERE. The film will return to theaters for one week beginning on February 1st.

Black Panther shattered box office records during its original theatrical release receiving high praise from both fans and critics. From the time the film was in previews, critics had already created a buzz about possible Oscar nominations for the film. Last year, it seemed like any hopes of the film winning Best Picture was impossible due to a new category addition for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Film. The Academy has since squashed the new category, and Black Panther earned the nod in the regular category.

Do you think Black Panther will win Best Picture at the Oscars this February? Will you be heading back to theaters to catch the magic of Wakanda once more on the big screen? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.
