‘Ghostbusters’ Sequel Given A Release Date

I guess you could say things are getting pretty serious for the Ghostbusters sequel.

Just days ago we knew nothing about a possible return to the Ghostbusters world and, if asked, most people would have understandably believed that the Ghostbusters franchise was dead after the disappointing critical and commercial response to the 2016 release.

But then, on January 15th we heard rumors of a sequel – this time involving the original cast and possibly some children? We weren’t sure, but it was intriguing. Then there was that magnificent video tease of the Ecto-1 and the world went crazy. The Ghostbusters were back! To add to the excitement was the news that Jason Reitman, son of Ivan Reitman who directed the original Ghostbusters films, would be directing and co-writing the screenplay.

Fear not; this film is a true sequel to the originals and the media has been told it has no connection at all to the 2016 reboot (sorry if you enjoyed the reboot – but it looks like that version of the franchise is currently a no-go)

Currently the film is in the audition process, looking for young actors. What parts are available and who will be returning have not been announced yet. There have also been no announcements as to story details. The film is planned to begin shooting this Summer.
