Adam Driver Has Held Onto One Secret While Shooting This ‘Star Wars’ Trilogy
Star Wars: Episode IX is inching closer to theaters, and will close out the Skywalker saga. It will also conclude Kylo Ren and actor Adam Driver’s six-year journey.
One of the biggest questions that fans have about the saga’s end has to do with the future of Kylo Ren, and how his story will end. Driver spoke to Deadline recently, when he looked back on his time working on the films thus far. He compared the job to his role on HBO’s popular show Girls. Driver noted a specific example of how the two shows were different.
“With Girls, there really wasn’t an end in sight, so it was fun to develop it as I went, and to think about where it was all going. With Star Wars, I had one piece of information on where it was all going, and that’s where it has been in my head for a long time, and things were building towards that.”
He says that havig that one piece of information proved helpful in picturing the process as a whole, and allowed him the ability to take opportunities to develop his character based on that information, making the process feel more theatrical.
Drive didn’t describe the piece of information that he knows, understandably so. We can imagine it’s something we will find out in Star Wars: Episode IX.
“That’s hard to say because we’re working towards something in particular with that character,” Driver said. “I don’t want to give anything away.”
Star Wars: Episode IX hits theaters in December 2019, where we will finally learn Kylo Ren’s secrets, and see how the Skywalker saga comes to an end.
