Netflix have just released their first look at season 3 of their acclaimed comedy One Day At A Time.

After the emotional season 2 finale that featured Rita Morenos’ character Lydia in a coma, it doesn’t look like the Alvarez family are slowing down anytime soon as they tackle more controversial topics this season such as Alex and cannabis use, the development of Elena’s relationship with non binary partner Syd and Penelope’s love life.

But it’s not just the family we’re getting treated to this season, in the trailer we get sneak peeks of not one, not two but three major guests stars. We have everyone’s favourite detectives pulling double duty, Brooklyn Nine Nine’s Stephanie Beatriz and Melissa Fumero and as if that wasn’t exciting enough, the one and only Gloria Estefan is guest starring as Lydia’s nemesis.

Beatriz and Fumero celebrated the news earlier last year via Fumero’s twitter account and we’ve been dying to get a closer look at their roles. It seems like laughter, love and dancing all round.

One Day At A Time season 3 hits Netflix on the 8th February with 13 all new episodes.

A reimagining of the iconic Norman Lear sitcom, One Day at a Time is a hilarious and heartfelt comedy that follows three generations of a Cuban-American family sometimes-reluctantly cohabitating and navigating the ups and downs of life. A newly-single mom and military veteran journeys through the triumphs and tribulations that come with raising two strong-willed, mega-millennial children, all the while enlisting the “help” of her old-school mother and her building manager-turned-invaluable confidante. Through a contemporary lens, One Day at a Time offers a glimpse at what life looks like, in good times and bad — and how those around you somehow make it all worthwhile.
