Austin Amelio Teases His Cross Over to ‘Fear the Walking Dead’

Big news hit The Walking Dead world yesterday when it was reported that the character Dwight (played by Austin Amelio) would be the second from the hit AMC series to cross over to its spinoff series Fear the Walking Dead.

Dwight has been missing in action on The Walking Dead since the season eight finale. After his life was spared by Daryl (played by Norman Reedus), Dwight was exiled from the communities and banished to a life alone within the zombie apocalypse. While fans feared the worst for the character, Amelio kept punctuating that Dwight was not, in fact, dead but was alive somewhere in the universe. Most recently at Walker Stalker New Jersey, Amelio said specifically, “He’s alive. That’s all I can say. He’s alive. He’s alive in the world somewhere.”

Thursday’s news of Dwight crossing over to Fear sent fans into an emotional rollercoaster of reactions. Now, Amelio himself has reacted to the news. Amelio broke his social media silence on Friday morning by posting a teaser video to his Instagram account. The video shows a supercut of some key Dwight moments all leading up to the character unfolding a letter. When the video cuts to a shot of what the mysterious letter actually says, we see a note welcoming Dwight to the Fear family.

Check out the video below.

The video was originally posted by the Fear the Walking Dead social media account with the caption, “TWD returns 2.10 but Dwight’s story continues this summer. #FearTWD”

Amelio is the second actor to make the switch over to Fear after getting his start on The Walking Dead. Lennie James (who played Morgan on The Walking Dead) found his way to the Fear series in the show’s fourth season.
