The Gallagher’s are Back! ‘Shameless’ Gets January Return Date
It’s not too fun celebrating the holidays without the Gallager’s, but thankfully we won’t have to wait too much longer to be back in the presence of the dysfunctional family. Showtime released a new Behind the Scenes video that not only revealed that season 9 would be returning on January 20th, but it also unveiled some exclusive clips and cast interviews.
While Shameless’ return is exciting, it does feel bittersweet as the back half of the sason marks the final run for Emmy Rossum who has been playing Fiona Gallagher since the show’s premiere. Last we saw, Fiona was at an all-time low after losing her huge investment, her boyfriend, and getting in a pretty bad car accident. Well, it doesn’t look like things will be looking up for the eldest Gallagher right off the bat.

William H. Macy, who plays Frank Gallagher, reveals that his character will continue to pursue Katey Sagal’s character, Ingrid as she embarks on a journey to have children.

Lip (Jeremy Allen White) is still trying to figure things out for himself, but this time he’s got company. When the show returns Lip is now dating Tami – the bridesmaid he met at the beginning of season 9. The two are looking at apartments together and trying to decide just how serious they are. As for the rest of the clan, Carl will still be trying to get on the straight and narrow to West Point with the help of Kelly. Debbie will be starting to step up into the maternal role in the family that Fiona has filled for a majority of the series and Kevin and Veronica are looking to expanding their family as well.
