‘Red Dead Redemption 2’ Wins The Shootout With November Sales, ‘Black Ops 4′ Right Behind

The tallys are in and your wallets have spoken! The western is not simply a thing of the past as Red Dead Redemption 2 rode into first place in November. Black Ops 4 was right behind it, followed by Battlefield V. Here is your list—

  1. Red Dead Redemption 2
  2. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4
  3. Battlefield V
  4. Fallout 76
  5. Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu!
  6. Pokemon: Let’s Go, Eevee!
  7. NBA 2K19
  8. Madden NFL 19
  9. Spyro: The Reignited Trilogy
  10. FIFA 19

Some interesting notes on the NPD report; Black Ops 4 remains the highest selling game of this year. When you release two weeks ahead of your biggest competitor that helps. The gap is unknown without either Activision or 2K giving us actual numbers, but I would assume it is pretty close. From previous reports we can gather Red Dead Redemption 2 has already sold upwards of 20 million copies.

The likes of Battlefield V and Fallout 76 being in the top five is pretty impressive. I would not have thought either would make it much further than the top ten given both suffered both critically and with consumers. Fallout 76 may have benefited from sale prices, while Battlefield V experienced no such cuts to it’s MSRP. We also had three sports titles in the top ten, proving the sports game is not dead.

All together, software sales reach $1 billion but we’re down over the year by a whopping 15%. The easy explanation? Call Of Duty. This is the first year in quite some time the game has not launched in November. Overall for the year however, software sales have been profitable, totaling $5.8 billion and sporting a 9% increase over last year. Spending as a whole has been the highest it has been since 2011 according to the NPD report.
