‘The Walking Dead’ Season 9B Synopsis Revealed

Spoiler Alert! The following contains spoilers from Season 9 of The Walking Dead. Read on at your own risk!

The Walking Dead returns in February, and the just-released synopsis for season 9B reveals that there are terrifying times ahead for our survivors.

The first half of season 9 introduced a whole new level of villain into The Walking Dead world. The Whisperers have finally arrived, and they are already beginning to claim the lives of our beloved characters. Sadly, Paul “Jesus” Rovia was the first casualty claimed by the walker-skin clad group, and when the show returns, it will pick up right after the heartbreaking events of the mid-season 9 finale.

A brand new synopsis for the second half of the season teases “disturbing and terrifying” trouble ahead as we dive deeper into the world of The Whisperers. Check out the new synopsis below.

[row]”The second half of “The Walking Dead” Season 9 finds our groups of survivors, both old and new, continuing to deal with the impact of events that took place during the six years that have passed. Since the disappearance of Rick, many of these characters have become strangers to each other, and in some ways, strangers to themselves. What they do know is that they are in undeniable danger. They will soon realize the world just beyond does not operate as they thought. The group’s rules and ways of survival no longer guarantee their safety. A whole new threat has crossed their paths, and they soon discover it’s unlike any threat they have encountered or endured before. The group will start to question what they think they see. What may appear to be normal in this post-apocalyptic world could actually be more disturbing and terrifying than when the apocalypse first broke out. All that is certain is the stakes are high and numerous.”[/row]

Back in August, it was announced that Sons of Anarchy star Ryan Hurst would be joining the popular AMC series in the role of Beta, a pivotal villainous character from the comic book source materials. Beta is the second in command to Alpha (played by Samantha Morton) as leader of the Whisperers. The group is known for wearing walker skin, which we saw in episode 908, to blend in with roaming herds while communicating through faint whispers which, to someone not paying close attention, simply sound like walker groans.

In addition to this ominous synopsis, AMC also dropped some truly terrifying new key art places Morton’s Alpha front and center. Check out the creepy new photos HERE.

It’s a whole new ball game in the zombie apocalypse when The Walking Dead returns on February 10th on AMC.
