‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’ Renewed by Netflix

Netflix

Netflix’s dark drama Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will continue to cast spells over us mere mortals for a little while longer. Netflix has just ordered an additional 16 episodes of the show, to act as parts 3 & 4, further confirming that Sabrina will be using the term “parts” as opposed to “seasons”. There is currently no word on when the parts 3 & 4 will be released, but production looks set to start mid-2019.

Everyone’s favorite feline announced the news earlier on Twitter.

In addition to Salem, creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa also confirmed the news:

“Praise Satan! I’m so grateful to my partners at Warner Brothers, Netflix, Berlanti Television and Archie Productions for supporting this darker vision of the world’s most famous teen witch, and I’m thrilled to be continuing to tell Sabrina’s chilling adventures with our incredible cast and crew, led by the unstoppable Kiernan Shipka.”

Thankfully, we have plenty of Sabrina to hold us over until then though! The holiday special “A Midwinter’s Tale” dropped on Netflix this week, and you can check out the teaser trailer for Part 2 below, which hits Netflix on April 5th!

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina imagines the origin and adventures of Sabrina the Teenage Witch as a dark coming-of-age story that traffics in horror, the occult and, of course, witchcraft. Tonally in the vein of Rosemary’s Baby and The Exorcist, this adaptation finds Sabrina wrestling to reconcile her dual nature — half-witch, half-mortal — while standing against the evil forces that threaten her, her family and the daylight world humans inhabit.

The cast includes Kiernan Shipka, Miranda Otto, Lucy Davis, Ross Lynch, Michelle Gomez, Chance Perdomo, Jaz Sinclair, Richard Coyle, Tati Gabrielle, Adeline Rudolph, Abigail Cowen, Lachlan Watson, Bronson Pinchot, and Gavin Leatherwood. Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who also serves as the Chief Creative Officer of Archie Comics, penned the script for the series. Aguirre-Sacasa executive produces alongside Riverdale collaborators Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Archie Comics CEO Jon Goldwater, and Lee Toland Krieger. The drama hails from Warner Bros. Television-based Berlanti Productions.

Part one of Chiling Adventures of Sabrina and the holiday special are currently streaming on Netflix!
