Andrew Lincoln in New ‘Walking Dead’ Christmas Ad: “I used to be on TV.”

Andrew Lincoln is appearing in a new Christmas ad on AMC, wishing us The Best Christmas Ever.

Rick Grimes’ time on The Walking Dead series is over, but there are still remnants of him for us. AMC is circulating an ad for its Best Christmas Ever in between Christmas specials, and it concludes with the beloved Lincoln.

It features Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride, and Khary Payton each wishing us their own versions of happy holidays seemingly between takes of season 9.

Once they finish their wishes, it jumps over to a special video of Andrew Lincoln. He’s cleanly shaven and perhaps in his piano room which we’ve seen him in before when he played a goodbye Carl song/tribute to Chandler Riggs when he left the show last season.

He sits in a black sweater and says,

Hi, I’m Andrew Lincoln. I used to be on TV, on a small show called The Walking Dead. Have the best. Christmas. Ever.

You can see the clip of the ad below.

The actor exited the series this season because he wanted to spend more time with his family after 9 seasons of jumping back and forth between Georgia and London.

In episode 5 of the current season, Rick attempts to save his friends by firing a gun at a pile of dynamite, to blow up a bridge and force a herd of walkers to fall into a rapid moving river. When he shoots, a huge explosion occurs, blowing Rick away. Michonne, Maggie, Daryl and everybody else believe that he dies in the explosion. is swept off by helicopter with Jadis when the group believes he’s dead via an explosion. In a shocking display of dramatic irony, Jadis is in the middle if trying to track down her rescue helicopter, driven by A an B obsessed people. She eyes Rick lying on a bank, tells the walkie talkie she’s found a B and is ready to go. They’re airlifted away quickly, and that’s the last time we’ll see Rick on the series.

It’s since been announced that Lincoln will star in a series of films made by AMC which are intended to expand the Walking Dead Universe. Lincoln will star in them, and Jadis actress Pollyanna McIntosh has hinted her involvement as well. She said during Fan Fest San Jose that she’s aware of talks with Scott Gimple and the films are “in process.”

The Walking Dead series returns for its second half of season 9 on February 10th, 2018.
