‘The Walking Dead’ Receives Screen Actors Guild Award Nomination

Throughout The Walking Dead’s nine-season run on AMC, it has continuously been one of the top cable series on television, particularly in the early seasons. Despite that fact though, the zombie drama has been consistently overlooked when it comes to any sort of award recognition over the years. While the series does fall into a genre of television that Hollywood can be wary of, the Screen Actors Guild continues to have faith and gave The Walking Dead its seventh nomination in the Stunt Ensemble in a Comedy or Drama Series category.

For the past seven years, Game of Thrones has walked away with the award, but this year its anyone’s game as the popular HBO drama wasn’t eligible. The Walking Dead is up against Glow, Westworld, Daredevil, and Jack Ryan.

The Stunt Ensemble award recognizes the work of a show’s stunt performers and coordinators,  and any Walking Dead fan knows there’s quite a lot of impressive stunt work in each episode. The work of The Walking Dead’s stunt team in the front half of season nine has been some of the best work the series has seen in years. From the wagon scene to the falling logs and Rick’s bridge explosion to that creepy Whisperers scene, if any year is The Walking Dead’s year, it’s 2018.
