Earlier this year, Cohan announced that she had signed on to star in the ABC pilot for Whiskey Cavalier while she was undergoing contract negotiations with The Walking Dead. When the pilot was picked up to series, Cohan’s exit from the zombie drama became set in stone, but the new project puts Cohan deservedly front and center and even teams her back up with her old Walking Dead co-star, Tyler James Williams.
The official synopsis for Whiskey Cavalier reads:
[row]Whiskey Cavalier is a high-octane, hour-long action dramedy that follows the adventures of tough but tender FBI super-agent Will Chase (codename: “Whiskey Cavalier”), played by Scott Foley. Following an emotional break-up, Chase is assigned to work with badass CIA operative Francesca “Frankie” Trowbridge (codename: “Fiery Tribune”), played by Lauren Cohan. Together, they lead an inter-agency team of flawed, funny and heroic spies who periodically save the world (and each other) while navigating the rocky roads of friendship, romance, and office politics.[/row]
While fans were sad to see Cohan leave The Walking Dead after having been a series regular since season 2, her character was not killed off, and both AMC and Cohan have remained extremely vocal about her one day returning.
[row]“I’m so grateful that this has been my stomping ground for so long, and my family here is never gone. Maggie’s story is open-ended,” she told EW earlier this year.[/row]
Be sure to support Cohan’s next chapter by tuning into ABC on February 27th at 10/9c for the premiere of Whiskey Cavalier! You can watch the full trailer for it below!

Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn’t be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own “Pepperwood Chronicles’.
