The Politician will revolve around the political aspirations of  Payton (Platt), a wealthy Santa Barbarian, and every season will revolve around a different political race his character is involved in.” The series is also expected to feature some musical numbers. In his interview, McDermott revealed that he would be playing a “con man living a life that’s just a lie.” His character will be married to January Jones’ character.

Murphy has teamed back up with his Glee partners Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan for The Politician, which also reunites the trio with Dreyfuss, who appeared on the beloved musical series’ final season. Netflix clearly has a lot of trust in the creative team as they already picked the dramedy up for two seasons.  The Politician is the latest addition to Murphy’s already impressive new series roster which includes the recent FOX hit 9-1-1, FX’s Pose, as well as an upcoming drama starring Sarah Paulson titled Ratched. Those three join his Emmy-award winning anthology series’ American Crime Story and American Horror Story.
