Sabrina the Teenage Witch is Shaking Things up in Riverdale

We’ve all been asking for a Riverdale and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina crossover and it looks like we’re getting it! Sort of.

While we’re hoping for a TV crossover, it’s not quite happening (yet!) but we will get a comic crossover.

In the new issue of the Archie Comics series, Sabrina has crossed over to Riverdale to help Archie and the gang after someone goes missing in Riverdale.

“She’s going to shake Riverdale up in a major way! When a character as classic and iconic as Sabrina comes to town, you know it has to have a big impact,” writer Nick Spencer told MTV News.

This small reboot is not a part of the current Riverdale comics storyline, but it feels like it because of the characters and a mystery that’s plaguing the town. Archie #700 hit comic shops on Wednesday, November 21.

It’s not clear how long Sabrina will be in Riverdale, but it has opened doors to a potential TV crossover.

“I would hate if there was no way possible for there ever to be a crossover,” Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, creator of both shows, told Entertainment Weekly. “I think there’d be a great episode where the Riverdale kids hear about a haunted house in Greendale and try to break in and it’s Sabrina’s house. There’s totally a universe where that happens. Or now that we’ve got Sabrina and Riverdale, maybe there’s a standalone Afterlife movie or something that we can do combining both casts.”

Aguirre-Sacasa has a few ideas for a crossover but has stated that it isn’t a top priority now that Sabrina has her own show. It’s not out of the question, either. “Rules are made to be broken and I’d hate for [a crossover] to never happen,” he says.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 1 is currently streaming on Netflix. Riverdale airs Wednesdays at 8 pm on the CW.
