Japanese jubilance flooded New York City last weekend as fans flocked the Jacob Javits Center in celebration of all things anime. Coming off a successful inaugural event in 2017 that boasted 20,000 attendees from 38 states and 10 countries, Anime NYC returned even bigger and better!

Three days of unique exhibits, exclusive screenings, extensive panels, and appearances by some of the most renowned creators in Japan provided fans with prime access to Japanese pop culture. I may not be an anime expert but I do have a great appreciation for its unparalleled artistry and Anime NYC was awe-inspiring at every level!

Still looking for more? Level 1 was the place to mingle with guests and take in some top-notch panels! Squeals of delight erupted throughout the autograph area as fans came face to face with the talented voices behind some of their favorite characters.

Actor Vic Mignogna (Full Metal Alchemist, Digimon, Star Trek) offered heartfelt greetings to all those that patiently waited to meet him, myself included. Mr. Mignogna not only allowed yours truly to stick around and capture some treasured moments but he also graciously agreed to an interview with Fan Fest News. Stay tuned!

Surrounded by endless exciting events throughout the weekend, I spent most of my time interacting with exuberant fans on the Main Floor and Artist Alley. Happiness is a driving force behind any successful event and, from what I have observed, Anime NYC will undoubtedly continue to grow. Their ability to adapt in an ever-expanding convention environment is impressive, it is that forward thinking that will keep things fresh and attract new fans. Even this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade even showed some Anime love. 🙂

A great weekend was had by all those that attended Anime NYC 2018. Kudos to the management, staff, press relations and volunteers that worked so very hard in putting together an awesome event. I can’t wait to see what is in store for 2019!
