There’s a Falcon and Winter Soldier Limited Series in the Works for Disney’s Streaming Platform

Disney is really upping its game when it comes to their new streaming service platform currently in development. The latest news about the service has Marvel fans ridiculously excited about its projected launch in 2019.

It was recently reported that Marvel and Disney would be creating multiple limited series for the upcoming streaming platform centered around the Marvel Cinematic Universe characters who haven’t yet had their chance to shine in a solo film. At the time, it was reported that Loki and Scarlet Witch would be getting their own streaming service series which would further explore their characters. The latest report from Variety indicates that there is a limited series in the works which will center around Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

According to Variety, Marvel is developing the series with Malcolm Spellman writing the script, which marks the firsts of the planned limited series to find a writer. At this time, however, not much else is known about the upcoming series. Marvel and Disney are keeping things tightly under wraps, which is not out of the norm for the two studios. Variety reports that all the limited series on Disney’s streaming service are expected to be between six and eight episodes.

In the Marvel Cinematic Films, Falcon (played by Anthony Mackie) has gotten limited screen time while the Winter Soldier (aka Bucky Barnes played by Sebastian Stan) has been a key part of standout films such as Captain American: Winter Soldier, ironically the first film in which Falcon makes his first appearance. Winter Soldier first appeared in the original Captain America film in 2011.

The two characters aren’t exactly the best of friends, which could make for an interesting dynamic in the limited series. During press for Avengers: Infinity War, Mackie told Entertainment Weekly about Falcon’s thoughts on Bucky. He said, “I think he and Winter Soldier have come to an understanding that Winter Soldier’s an a–hole and he’ll never trust him.”
