‘Supergirl’ Recap ‘Ahisma’

Supergirl Recap ‘Ahisma’

The atmosphere is still filled with Kryptonite thanks to the Graves siblings, so Kara is forced to remain inside Lena’s super suit. Thankfully, Kara is able to cleanse the Kryptonite in her system and regains consciousness. She is still determined to help out when Mercy and Otis strike again. With the help of a new DEO turncoat, they kidnap two maximum security prisoners and take an alien parasite. Agent Liberty uses the parasite to enhance technology that then grants him mind control. He urges the two aliens to strike. Kara goes against Alex’s wishes and joins the battle, almost losing her life as the suit starts to break down from the damage. This whole incident doesn’t go over well with the new President. He forbids Supergirl from going into the field without his approval and tells Alex that she is on thin ice. Alex and Kara get into an argument, mostly because Alex is feeling the pressure of being Director of the DEO, but she’s also worried about Kara.

Meanwhile, J’onn is still searching for Fiona and teams up with her boyfriend, Manchester Black. J’onn has been struggling with his newfound sense of peace, and blames himself for Kara being poisoned. She asked for help, but he denied her. As the search continues, J’onn realizes that he can’t be completely inactive and starts using his mind reading abilities to find Fiona. After making a connection, he and Manchester track her down. Unfortunately, they’re too late and Fiona passes away in Manchester’s arms. He doesn’t take this well and in the final scene of the episode, he begins his quest for revenge.

At the DEO, Lena and Brainy figure out how to clean the Kryptonite out of the atmosphere by using nanites. They start the process right at the Graves siblings strike again, this time at a carnival. Alex apologizes to Kara and asks her to get out in the field with her, but to be careful with the suit. The two aliens put up a strong fight, but Kara and Alex beat them. Then, Otis comes from behind and grabs Kara. The suit is breaking down and Otis knows that if he destroys the helmet, she’s dead. Thankfully, the nanites worked and the atmosphere is clear. Kara knocks out Otis and removes her helmet, healthy once more. The day is saved and Mercy and Otis are detained. Not everyone is happy with their victory, however. The President is not pleased that Alex disobeyed direct orders. He places a colonel over Alex, who will make sure she stays in line.

The final scenes of the episode find Agent Liberty not caring that the siblings have been arrested. He says that the order of command doesn’t matter as long as there is someone willing to step up and continue the mission. Liberty has Jensen tied to a chair and puts the parasite on him, wondering what is going to happen to Jensen now. At CatCo, Nia sees that James and trending, but it’s a bad thing. Photos are surfacing of Guardian returning to the field. James’ charges were dropped, but he was warned that if he ever resumed his role as Guardian, he would immediately be arrested. If you look at the byline of the articles, it says Ben Lockwood, aka Agent Liberty. So once more, they are planting false information to clear out alien sympathizers. Poor James just can’t catch a break.

Things are heating up, but I wonder what the master plan is. So far, the Graves and Liberty have been working in small doses. They say that they mean to spread fear and eventually rid the planet of all aliens, but their small threats aren’t going to be enough. At least, I feel like they aren’t. Will the other Supergirl come into play? If the people fear Supergirl, then they will really start to lose hope and peace of mind. I am so eager to see what the other Supergirl is all about. I’m also really excited for where the show goes with Manchester Black. I don’t really know much about his character, but I really liked him this episode. He was charismatic and has a great jumping off point. Will he remain true to his comic self and be an anti-hero turned villain? Or will J’onn be able to keep him in line?
