SPOILER ALERT! The following article contains spoilers from season 9 of The Walking Dead. Read on only if you are current with the season.
This past Sunday, the unthinkable happened on AMC’s The Walking Dead. The leader of the new world, Rick Grimes (played flawlessly by Andrew Lincoln), appeared in his very last episode of the series. His character narrowly escaped what seemed like a certain death. He fired one, final shot with his trusty colt python, blowing up a bridge full of walkers and, by proximity, himself.
Lucky for Rick, he fell into the water below (which probably was his saving grace, sparing him from being burnt to a crisp) and drifted down the river. He was eventually found, alive, by none other than Jadis. Jadis placed a distress call to her mysterious helicopter connections who circled back to scoop up Rick and take him off to safety and medical help.
Much of the focus in season nine so far, has been on Rick’s departure. Now that he has taken his final bow, so to speak, it’s time to explore the world without Rick Grimes. The Walking Dead will be doing that by taking yet another time jump into the future this season.
This time, the series is jumping about six years into the future, and some of our survivors look a little different. In the below new trailer for season nine, we see Carol (played by Melissa McBride) now sporting a super long hairstyle with her weapon of choice being a bow and arrow. Michonne (played by Danai Gurira) also has a new, badass look for the rest of the season. Daryl (Norman Reedus) remains the unchanged status quo of the group, though he has an added sense of leadership about him. Perhaps the most changed is baby Judith. She’s no longer a baby anymore. Now a fearless young lady played by actress Cailey Fleming, Judith is clearly growing into her nickname of Little Ass Kicker.
The new look at the remainder of the season also gives us a glimpse at some new characters and teases the arrival that everyone has been waiting for – The Whisperers.
Check out the awesome new trailer below.
If this doesn’t get you pumped for the next several episodes, then nothing will! We can’t wait to see what happens next on AMC’s The Walking Dead! As for Rick Grimes? Don’t worry too much about him. It’s been confirmed that Andrew Lincoln will be returning for a trilogy of The Walking Dead films which will continue to further explore everyone’s favorite sheriff turned apocalypse leader.
